Visitors who are not citizens of a European Union Member State and who want to enter the Republic of Lithuania must be in possession of the appropriate visa. If you are in possession of a valid Schengen visa, or national visa issued by other Schengen state, you may enter the Republic of Lithuania and remain for the period indicated on a visa, but not exceeding 90 days in any 180 day period

To visit Lithuania, you must have a valid passport or ID card (if you are a citizen of an EU country). A visa is required for citizens of countries that do not have visa-exemption agreements with Lithuania. Information on the visa requirements and the location of embassies can be found on the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Participants who require a letter of invitation from the Migration Department under the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania may contact the Conference Secretariat to apply for the invitation letter. It is not obligatory for those who are going to take care of the visa by themselves. We kindly request that you consult with the relevant institutions in your country about the procedure and required documents before inquiring for the invitation letter

Lithuania has a typical Central European climate. The month of August is characterised by falling daily high temperatures, with daily highs ranging from 23°C to 19°C over the course of the month, exceeding 27°C or dropping below 16°C only one day in ten. Daily weather updates can be found HERE

Over the course of August, the length of the day is very rapidly decreasing. From the start to the end of the month, the length of the day decreases by 2:01 hours, implying an average day-over-day decrease of 3.9 minutes. The shortest day of the month is August 31 with 13:48 hours of daylight; the longest day is August 1 with 15:49 hours of daylight

Official currency in Lithuania is Euro. Visa and MasterCard are accepted in most shops, hotels and restaurants. You will find an ATM on nearly every corner

ATM (Cash Machines)
Cash-points are ubiquitous in Vilnius, so you won’t have to wander far to track one down. You’ll also find an ATM at the airport. However, most banks will charge a small fee for withdrawing cash overseas

Electricity in Lithuania is 220 Volts. Plugs are European standard with two round pins

Getting to Vilnius and Conference Venue

The fastest way to reach Lithuania is by plane. The main airports are in Vilnius and Kaunas cities. The direct flights are available from all main cities in Europe as well as from any bigger city in the world with just one or a few connecting flights through the main international airports in Europe

Vilnius Airport (“Oro uostas” in Lithuanian) is just 7 km (12 min by car) away from Vilnius Old Town. Please find the distance in the MAP

Vilnius Airport approved taxi rank can be found just in front of the arrivals terminal. All taxi cabs accept cash and credit cards. Always ask for a printed receipt at the end of the trip!

From Airport to Conference Venue: take bus No. 3G or No. 1, your final spot is Sparta (destination from Sparta bus stop to Conference Venue)
From Airport to Comfort Hotel Lt: take bus No. 3G, your final stop is Sparta (destination from Sparta bus stop to Comfort Hotel Lt) or you can take bus No. 1 and leave at the bus stop Aguonu (destination from Aguonu bus stop to Comfort Hotel Lt)

Tickets for busses can be bought on a bus or you can buy an electronic travel card at any newspaper kiosk.

Lithuania has a well developed network of roads. There are two European Highways, with branch lines, Via Baltica (Helsinki – Warsaw, part of the E67 Highway that runs to Warsaw and Prague) and West – East (Klaipeda – Moscow). The traffic is right hand in Lithuania

Speed limits

– 50 km/h in townships
– 80 km/h outside the townships
– 100/110/130 km/h on a highway according to a road type and season

Parking on pavement is forbidden unless the signs tell otherwise. Parking usually is paid, you can pay in the nearest parking automaton. The payment value depends on the parking lot place

If you do not have spare change with you, you can use paying for parking via SMS service

Automatic gas stations serve customers all 24 hours. They accept cash in banknotes as well as credit cards

There is a choice of international bus lines connecting Vilnius with other European cities. There are direct buses to Lithuania (Vilnius) from Belarus, Denmark, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Russia, etc. Please find the routs and buy the tickets on the Lux Express website, Eurolines website and Ecolines website
